wikipedia academies launch in joburg
Tuesday, November 20th, 2007recently the african wikipedia academies series was launched at cida city camputs in johannesburg, south africa. frank schulenburg, founder of the series in germany, jimmy wales, founder of wikipedia, ndesanjo macha, strong contributor to swahili wikipedia and taddy blecher, founder of cida city campus, gave speeches and trainings.
wales thinks that “contributors get lonely” is the reason for shallow contents of african language wikipedias - but obviously nobody pointed out that a good internet connection may come up to a yearly average salary - and contributing might be considered as “luxory”.
